Adding Smart Technology into Your New Kitchen
We are in the age of the highest technology, everything around us is tech-related. And as someone creating a new space, you might want to consider the possibilities of adding smart technology into your new kitchen.
Hello Alexa!
Most households have an Alexa or voice assist technology. They are great for music we all know, but they have endless benefits when using them for your kitchen. If you are new to the “world of Alexa” then it may be confusing or just seem like a chatty speaker. However, there are so many ways you can use it to your advantage in your kitchen. Alexa can look for recipes for you, set timers for cooking, answer calls, answer questions you ask it, or even change/turn off your lights. All incredibly useful things when your hands are covered in flour or raw meat!

Built-in Charging spots
Kitchens have the potential for such a vast amount of technology. But how is that technology going to function properly with nowhere to charge or plug them in? Building charging stations into worktops and counters is such a tiny detail, but so important. It adds that modern touch to your new kitchen and is very useful when you have people over, or the kids need to charge their phones!
Lighting
Gone are the days of bright white lights on in the kitchen.Yes great to have for cooking, but not so much fun when you have friends over for a wine night!
Smart lighting is the best way to be able to flick between bright lighting for cooking, kids’ homework nights or for date nights and friends’ dinners. Switch between colours tones and brightness levels with a simple app or wall touchscreen. Or even combine the voice-activated option with lighting to be able to quickly say “lights off” when your hands are full.

High-tech appliances
Who knew you could control your hob, fridge and oven from an app? Yes, that’s right you can turn on your appliances, adjust temperatures and preheat your oven with your phone. You can also buy fridges that have a built in touch screen device that checks your stock, adds to shopping lists and comes up with recipes based on what is inside. Sounds fake right, but nope, if you are looking to spend the big bucks on the highest technology then these are things that you can consider.
Smart Faucets
Many modern kitchens now have smart taps; you can have boiling water straight from the tap eliminating that annoying kettle boiling waiting time. Smart taps can be controlled by voice control for when you have your hands full. They also have an immediate response so you won’t have to wait for the water to get going. Smart faucets are said to be the best for having a clean tap, preventing the spread of bacteria and can also conserve water. They are a really great, smart feature to have in a modern kitchen but can be on the slightly expensive side.

The Perfect Sound System
Who doesn’t love dancing in the kitchen to their favourite songs? It may not be new but a good sound system in your kitchen is a must. Depending on your preference, maybe an Alexa is enough, or perhaps a touchscreen built-in sound system is more your style. Most homes now have sound systems added to them. Lounges for surround sound, and kitchens for the perfect music whilst cooking or hosting dinners and parties.
Start Small!
If you are keen on the idea of having a smart kitchen but want to incorporate it slowly or perhaps don’t have the budget just yet, start small. Start with an Alexa or some great lighting. Smart kitchens could be all tech, tech, tech but if you’re not “tech-savvy” just yet then start small and get comfortable with it. A smart kitchen is great and can be practical and fun, but can also be confusing, so maybe take it slowly. Not to mention adding smart technology into your new kitchen can be pricey and may take time to slowly build up to it.
