Five Tips When Installing a New Bathroom

If you’ve decided on a new bathroom we have five tips when installing a new bathroom just to get you started on your inspirational journey. Plus to make the whole process as smooth and stress-free as possible.

1. Modern or Traditional

If you have a set theme in mind already then that makes the whole process run faster. But, we understand that it can be challenging to decide between two very popular and both as beautiful themes. When it comes to bathrooms, we’ve seen that a more modern theme has become more popular over the years.  That’s not to say the traditional styles aren’t still in demand, especially in older or period properties. If your current bathroom is tired and needs a huge makeover then maybe a modern bathroom is the better route to go down. Often when the bathroom is outdated you are going to want a complete makeover. However, if you have a more traditional home and you just need to give your bathroom an added bit of sparkle then a traditional bathroom can work really well. We have a beautiful selection of modern and traditional bathroom designs to look through.

2. Cater For Your Space

Achieving your dream bathroom is always possible, especially with our fabulous design team… but sometimes there are a few things that might not work if your space doesn’t suit it. If you are after a walk-in shower but the space doesn’t quite work with that, we will sit down with you and plan out the options so that your vision can still come to life. If you have a fairly small bathroom there are certain techniques we can use to really open up the space and make it lighter, brighter and feel more open.

3. Think About Storage Options

Achieving that clean sleek aesthetic is not going to work with all your toiletries on display, and one glass cabinet won’t necessarily do the job either. Make the most of the incredible storage options out there and go for something that is not only practical and will hold everything but something that can also add to the overall finish of the bathroom. You can play with materials and colours and even handles and knobs. All these things that seem small, add such a huge impact to the overall look of the finished bathroom. A bathroom mirror has always been a necessity but now with more modern designs the mirrored cabinet can be a great choice for a discrete storage option. You can have LEDs with touchscreen turn-on options all making that finished and sleek design happen!

4. Don’t Fear Statement!

Whether it’s bright colour or bold patterns, don’t be afraid to look into some ways to make a statement. If you want to really create a show-stopping bathroom then something like a statement colour or floor will do the trick. We have a fantastic range of tiles and flooring from Karndean in our showroom, all ready and waiting to show you. From marble patterns, block colour to traditional floral designs, the options are truly endless. Colour accents can be changed easily, but tiles and hardware can be harder to change around so if you are thinking of braving the statement, try and not just go with the trends, but go with something you think you will love for a long time.

5. Lighting Makes All The Difference

We all know that feeling when the lighting is awful and you’re looking in the mirror and don’t like what you see. (well Ross and Keith may see this a lot, but we think the lovely Peter always looks very dapper!) Lighting matters!

The bathroom is the place you get ready and take care of yourself, so you want the lighting to be good. Not only does having great lighting make you look and feel good, but it will also make your new bathroom look great. You have spent time and money for your bathroom, so ensure it looks its best all the time! When that natural daylight fades, turn on the fantastic lights and see your beautiful bathroom continue to shine in all its glory. In a family home, it’s a common occurrence at night for people to be in and out of the toilet and, if your bedroom is right next door, you don’t want a beaming light constantly shining through your door. This is where LEDs come in handy! LED lighting is a great way to light up your bathroom in a more subtle way. You can have them around the mirror or even the toilet. This way you won’t see the kids going in and out of the bathroom at 2 am.
